MLS Power Rankings: Week 4

The fourth week of the MLS season saw RSL remain as the only undeafeated team in MLS and also raise some questions for other contenders.  Did the Rapids look past FC Dallas as they face RSL next week or was the loss because they faced quality for the first time?  Can the Red Bulls score goals with this roster which on paper looks like a possess attacking ability.  Have preseason contenders like the Sounders and FC Dallas returned to winning ways or will they continue to struggle?

1. Real Salt Lake (1)
Record: 3W-0L-0D
Last Week:  2-0 Win at New England
Next Week:  Apr 13 vs Colorado
After earning a spot in CL final, RSL returns to MLS action to continue their undefeated season.

2. Los Angeles Galaxy (3)
Record:  2W-1L-2D
Last Week: 1-1 Draw at DC United
Next Week:  Apr 13 at Toronto, Apr 17 at Chicago
The Galaxy should have had the three points if it wasn’t for an obvious bad call in the penalty area.

3. Philadelphia Union (6)
Record: 3W-1L-0D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs New York Red Bulls
Next Week:  Apr 16 vs Seattle
Another 1-0 victory for the Philadelphia Union, this time against their rivals from New York.

4. Colorado Rapids (2)
Record:  3W-1L-0D
Last Week:  3-0 Loss at FC Dallas
Next Week:  Apr 13 at Real Salt Lake             
The defending champs lose badly on the road against last year's runner ups.

5. New York Red Bulls (4)
Record:  1W-1L-2D
Last Week:  1-0 Loss at Philadelphia Union
Next Week:  Apr 16 vs San Jose Earthquakes
The heralded Red Bulls attack have yet to find rhythm and are struggling to find the net.

6. Seattle Sounders (7)
Record:  1W-2L-2D
Last Week:  2-1 Win vs Chicago Fire
Next Week:  Apr 16 at Philadelphia Union
It took 5 games for the Sounders to collect their first win and now they face another test next week.

7. San Jose Earthquakes (5)
Record:  1W-1L-2D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw vs Toronto FC
Next Week:  Apr 16 at New York Red Bulls
San Jose is unable to take advantage of their home field as they lose another two points to a beatable club.

8. Sporting Kansas City (8)
Record: 1W-1L-1D
Last Week:  No Match
Next Week:  Apr 16 at Columbus Crew
After a week off can Sporting KC bounce back after their collapse in Vancouver two weeks ago?

9. Houston Dynamo (12)
Record:  1W-1L-2D
Last Week:  3-1 Win vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Next Week:  Apr 17 vs New England Revolution
The Dynamo took advantage of a tired Caps club at home and dominated the match.

10. FC Dallas (14)
Record:  1W-2L-1D
Last Week:  3-0 Win vs Colorado Rapids
Next Week:  Apr 17 at Portland Timbers
David Ferraria returned to MVP form as FC Dallas exact a little revenge against the Rapids.

11. Chicago Fire (9)
Record:  1W-1L-1D
Last Week:  2-1 Loss at Seattle Sounders
Next Week:  Apr 14 at Portland Timbers, Apr 17 vs LA Galaxy
A big test for the Fire team as they open the Timber’s new park and return home to face the Galaxy.

12. Vancouver Whitecaps (10)
Record:  1W-2L-2D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw vs New England Revolution, 3-1 Loss at Houston Dynamo
Next Week:  Apr 16 vs Chivas USA
The depleted and tired Caps were no match for the Dynamo and return home to find three points.

13. New England Revolution (11)
Record:  1W-1L-3D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw at Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-0 Loss vs Real Salt Lake
Next Week:  Apr 17 at Houston Dynamo
After failing to secure a result at home against the top club in MLS, the Revs travel to Houston.

14. DC United (13)
Record:  1W-2L-1D
Last Week: 1 -1 Draw vs LA Galaxy   
Next Week:  Apr 16 at Toronto FC
DCU were luck y to get a point at home against the Galaxy after a dive in the penalty area by Davies.

15. Toronto FC (16)
Record:  1W-1L-2D
Last Week: 1-1 Draw at San Jose Earthquakes
Next Week:  Apr 13 vs LA Galaxy, Apr 16 vs DC United
After an impressive road draw, TFC hope to take advantage of the weather at home twice this week.

16. Columbus Crew (15)
Record:  1W-1L-2D
Last Week: 0-0 Draw at Chivas USA
Next Week:  Apr 16 vs Sporting Kansas City
After beating Dallas, the Crew disappoint in their road draw against Chivas.

17. Chivas USA (17)
Record:  0W-2L-2D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw vs Columbus Crew
Next Week:  Apr 16 at Vancouver Whitecaps
The Goats get their second draw in as many weeks and now face Vancouver on the road.

18. Portland Timbers (18)
Record:  0W-2L-1D
Last Week:  No Match
Next Week:  Apr 14 vs Chicago, Apr 17 vs FC Dallas
The Timbers open their home park and then play another one as they look to climb out of the MLS basement.
