Cascadia Summit Preview

This weekend will see the renewal of a 30+ year trivalry between the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps with the first Cascadia Summit taking place in Tukwila Washington.  After a two year hiatus, the Sounders being in the MLS, all three teams are in the same league and can compete for the Cascadia Cup in 2011.  The Summit will consist of a one match between each team over the three days and also includes a double header on March 6th where the Sounders Academy will play the Whitecaps Residency squad before the senior teams play later.

All four matches between the Cascadia rivals will be played at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington and will be streamed here live on the Whitecaps website.  In addition to the games there will be forum held for supporters and coaches through the weekend and tickets aren’t required for the event.  The Whitecaps will be represented by the Vancouver supporters group, The Southsiders, who have booked buses and hotels for those fans who can’t wait to get a glimpse of their team.  While midfielder Ridge Mobulu returns to action after being away for personal reasons and new addtion Kevin Harmse will see his first action with the Caps, Forward Davide Chiumiento will miss this weekend with an ankle injury.
