MLS Power Rankings: Week 2

RSL jumps to the top spot after an impressive victory over the Galaxy.  Most surprising result of the week was San Jose's 2-0 victory in Dallas.  Accordingly, the Earthquakes were the biggest risers and FC Dallas dropped the most as last year's runner-ups continue to struggle at home.  The Whitecaps dropped 3 spots after losing their first game on the road in Philadelphia.

RSL’s dominance at home continues as they pound the Galaxy while being shorthanded.

Last Week:  1-0 Win at Chivas USA
Next Week:  Apr 3 vs DC United
Defending Champions remain undefeated as they beat on another bottom feeder.

3. New York Red Bulls (3)
Record:  1W-0L-1D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw at Columbus Crew
Next Week:  Apr 2 vs Houston Dynamo
Missing 6 starters and playing a 3rd string goalie, NY was able grind out a goalless draw.

4. Los Angeles Galaxy (1)

Last Week: 4-1 Loss at Real Salt Lake
Next Week:  Apr 2 vs Philadelphia Union
While they were missing Donovan, the Galaxy had enough to at least stay close to RSL

5. Philadelphia Union (10)

Last Week:  1-0 Win vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Next Week:  Apr 2 at LA Galaxy
The defense has improved since last year as the Union have posted back to back cleansheets.

6. San Jose Earthquakes (11)

Next Week:  Apr 2 vs Seattle Sounders
Wondolowski continues his scoring as San Jose go into Dallas and defeat last year’s runners up.

7. Sporting Kansas City (5)

Last Week:  3-2 Loss at Chicago Fire
Next Week:  Apr 2 at Vancouver Whitecaps
SKC lose their DP early to a red card but almost complete a comeback as they lose to Chicago.
8. Seattle Sounders (7)

Last Week:  1-1 Draw vs Houston Dynamo
Next Week:  Apr 2 at San Jose Earthquakes
The Sounders controlled the game but were not able to finish and escaped with a point at home.

9. Chicago Fire (13)

Last Week:  3-2 Win vs Sporting Kansas City
Next Week:  No Match
The Fire are surprising some as they beat an under manned SKC team at home.

Charlie Davies continues the comeback but the team falls to the Revolution on the road.

The defending Western champs have only got one point out of six from their first two at home.

Shorthanded Caps held on for 76 minutes before allowing single goal in their first match on road.

Thought to be worst team by experts Revolution are undefeated early in the season.

14. Houston Dynamo (12)

Next Week:  Apr 2 at New York Red Bulls
The Dynamo were dominated by the Sounders and were lucky to escape with draw.

15. Toronto FC (18)

Last Week: 2-0 Win vs Portland Timbers
Next Week:  Apr 2 vs Chivas USA
TFC bounced back with an impressive win and the team showed signs that new system will work.

16. Chivas USA (15)

Last Week:  1-0 Loss vs Colorado Rapids
Next Week:  Apr 2 at Toronto FC
Chivas have now lost first two games at home to SKC and now the defending champs.

17. Columbus Crew (16)

Next Week:  Apr 1 vs FC Dallas
The Crew were unable to score against a NY team that were missing up to six starters.

18. Portland Timbers (17)

Last Week:  2-0 Loss at Toronto FC
Next Week:  Apr 2 at New England Revolution
The Timbers are struggling to score as they lose first two on the road.
