MLS Power Rankings: Week 7

For the first time this season there is a change at the top as Real Salt Lake, after their CCL finals loss, lose on the road to Portland.  New York is proving that they can beat teams with their potent offense and their stingy defense.  The Timbers are the biggest risers as they moved up six spots this week but must prove their ability to get a result on the road. 


1. New York Red Bulls (3)
Record:  4W-1L-2D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs Sporting Kansas City
Next Week:  May 7 at LA Galaxy
The Red Bulls are turning into the preseason favorites they were predicted by the experts.


 
2. Real Salt Lake (1)
Record: 4W-1L-0D
Last Week:  1-0 Loss at Portland Timbers
Next Week:  May 7 vs Chivas USA
Suffering from a CCL hangover RSL drops their first in league play to the expansion side

3. Los Angeles Galaxy (2)
Record:  4W-2L-3D
Last Week: 2-1 Loss at FC Dallas
Next Week:  May 7 vs New York Red Bulls
A late goal ends the Galaxy's unbeaten streak as they prepare to host NY. 

4. Philadelphia Union (4)
Record: 4W-1L-1D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs San Jose Earthquakes
Next Week:  May 6 at Portland Timbers
The Union continue to play solid at home and now face a tough test next week. 

5. Seattle Sounders (5)
Record:  3W-2L-3D
Last Week:  3-0 Win vs Toronto FC
Next Week:  May 4 at DC United, May 7 at Columbus Crew
An inspirational performance by the team as they blast TFC at home.
 
6. Houston Dynamo (6)
Record:  3W-1L-3D
Last Week:  4-1 Win vs DC United
Next Week:  May 4th vs Colorado Rapids, May 7th at Toronto FC
Rookie Will Bruin has a breakout game as Dynamo impress in another home win.

7. Columbus Crew (8)
Record:  3W-1L-3D
Last Week: 2-1 Win vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Next Week:  May 7th vs Seattle Sounders
After their loss in the season opener, the Crew are now on a 6 game unbeaten streak.

8. FC Dallas (9)
Record:  3W-3L-1D
Last Week:  2-1 Win vs LA Galaxy
Next Week:  May 7th at DC United
FCD begin their time without  their MVP with a win against the Galaxy.

9. Colorado Rapids (7)
Record:  3W-3L-1D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw vs Chicago Fire
Next Week:  May 4th at Houston Dynamo, May 7th at New England Revolution
The defending champs have now gone 4 games without win including 2 at home.

10. Chivas USA (13)
Record:  2W-2L-3D
Last Week:  3-0 Win vs New England Revolution
Next Week:  May 7th at Real Salt Lake
Chivas continues their 5 game unbeaten streak with their first win at home.

11. Portland Timbers (17)
Record:  3W-3L-1D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs Real Salt Lake
Next Week:  May 6 vs Philadelphia Union
The Timbers are unbeatable at home and face another tough opponent next week.

12. Sporting Kansas City (11)
Record: 1W-4L-1D
Last Week:  1-0 Loss at New York Red Bulls
Next Week: No Match
SKC lose another on the road and will get a week off to return home for training.

13. New England Revolution (10)
Record:  2W-3L-3D
Last Week:  3-0 Loss at Chivas USA
Next Week:  May 7 vs Colorado Rapids
The Revs will need some time to develop chemistry after initial success last week.

14. DC United (12)
Record:  2W-4L-1D
Last Week: 4 -1 Loss at Houston Dynamo
Next Week:  May 4th vs Seattle Sounders, May 7th vs FC Dallas
DCU lose another to an eastern conference foe but can rebound with 2 at home this week.

15. San Jose Earthquakes (14)
Record:  1W-4L-2D
Last Week:  1-0 Loss at Philadelphia Union
Next Week:  No Match
The Earthquakes seem to be in a free fall as they now have a week off  to get things back on track.

16. Vancouver Whitecaps (16)
Record:  1W-4L-3D
Last Week:  2-1 Loss at Columbus Crew
Next Week:  May 7th at Chicago Fire
The Whitecaps could not complete a comeback as they drop another one on the road.

17. Toronto FC (15)
Record:  1W-3L-4D
Last Week: 3-0 Loss at Seattle Sounders
Next Week:  May 7 vs Houston Dynamo
TFC can't buy a result in Seattle and looked disorganized on the pitch.

18. Chicago Fire (18)
Record:  1W-3L-2D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw at Colorado Rapids
Next Week:  May 7th vs Vancouver Whitecaps
The Fire are able to get a result and end their 3 game losing streak.
