MLS Power Rankings: Week 8

The New York Red Bulls are able to hold onto the top spot in the power poll as they drew the Galaxy on the road.  The biggest risers of the week were the Crew, thanks to the teams above losing last week, and DC United who finally picked up results against quality opponents.  After losing twice, to the Rapids at home and TFC on the road, the Dynamo drop four spots as they slid the most this week.

Record:  4W-1L-3D
Last Week:  1-1 Draw at Los Angeles Galaxy
Next Week:  May 15 vs Chivas USA
The Red Bulls hold serve as they travel to the west coast and draw the other MLS glamour team.

2. Real Salt Lake (2)
Record: 5W-1L-0D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs Chivas USA
Next Week:  May 14 vs Houston Dynamo
A victory against Chivas USA is costly as RSL loses one its stars Javier Morales to a broken ankle.

3. Los Angeles Galaxy (3)
Record:  4W-2L-4D
Last Week: 1-1 Draw vs New York Red Bulls
Next Week:  May 11 at Philadelphia Union, May 14 vs Sporting Kansas City
The Galaxy had hoped for a better result as they face Eastern teams twice this week.

4. Columbus Crew (7)
Record:  3W-1L-4D
Last Week: 1-1 Draw vs Seattle Sounders
Next Week:  May 14 at San Jose Earthquakes
A couple teams above them losing allow the Crew to rise but so does their 7 match unbeaten streak.

5. Philadelphia Union (4)
Record: 4W-2L-1D
Last Week:  1-0 Loss at Portland Timbers
Next Week:  May 11 vs Los Angeles Galaxy, May 14 at FC Dallas
The Union hope to generate more offense as they face a couple of Western contenders.

6. Seattle Sounders (5)
Record:  3W-3L-4D
Last Week:  2-1 Loss at DC United, 1-1 Draw at Columbus Crew
Next Week:  May 14 vs Portland Timbers
The Sounders are only able to get a point of six as they ready to host the Timbers for the first time.

7. FC Dallas (8)
Record:  3W-3L-2D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw at DC United
Next Week:  May 11 vs Toronto FC, May 14 vs Philadelphia Union
Post Ferreira era continues as they draw DCU & prepare to host a couple of teams next week.

8. Colorado Rapids (9)
Record:  4W-3L-2D
Last Week:  2-1 Win at Houston Dynamo, 0-0 Draw at New England Revolution
Next Week:  May 14 at DC United
The champs are starting to rebound well from the Mullan controversy with a couple of good results. 

9. Portland Timbers (11)
Record:  4W-3L-1D
Last Week:  1-0 Win vs Philadelphia Union
Next Week:  May 14 at Seattle Sounders
The Timbers continue their strong play at home as they prepare to face their Cascadia rivals.

10. Houston Dynamo (6)
Record:  3W-3L-3D
Last Week:  2-1 Loss vs Colorado Rapids, 2-1 Loss at Toronto FC
Next Week:  May 14 at Real Salt Lake
The Dynamo drop a couple this week and now must travel to RSL to turn it around.

11. DC United (14)

Last Week: 2 -1 Win vs Seattle Sounders, 0-0 Draw vs FC Dallas
Next Week:  May 14 vs Colorado Rapids
DCU has a bounce back week collecting four of six points from solid opponents.

12. Chivas USA (10)

Last Week:  1-0 Loss at Real Salt Lake
Next Week:  May 15 at New York Red Bulls
The Goats play RSL close in Rio Tinto and now travel east to face the Red Bulls.

13. New England Revolution (13)
Record:  2W-3L-4D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw vs Colorado Rapids
Next Week:  May 14 vs Vancouver Whitecaps
The Revs draw with the Rapids at home and will wait there to face the Whitecaps.

14. Sporting Kansas City (12)
Record: 1W-4L-1D
Last Week:  No Match
Next Week:  May 14 at Los Angeles Galaxy
After a week off the SKC go back on the road against the Galaxy and try to fall behind in the table

15. Toronto FC (17)
Record:  2W-3L-4D
Last Week: 2-1 Win vs Houston Dynamo
Next Week:  May 11 at FC Dallas, May 14 vs Chicago Fire
TFC picks up their second impressively as they face another week with two games.

16. San Jose Earthquakes (15)
Record:  1W-4L-2D
Last Week:  No Match
Next Week:  May 11 at Vancouver Whitecaps, May 14 vs Columbus Crew
A week off to regroup the Quakes look to take advantage of a tired Caps team and secure their 2nd win.

17. Vancouver Whitecaps (16)
Record:  1W-4L-4D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw at Chicago Fire
Next Week:  May 11 vs San Jose Earthquakes, May 14 at New England Revolution
After their first road result the Caps look for to gain their second victory of the season.

18. Chicago Fire (18)
Record:  1W-3L-4D
Last Week:  0-0 Draw vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Next Week:  May 11 at Toronto FC
The Fire were unable to pull out a win at home so they remain at the bottom of the league.
